Researchers from the University of Toronto visit PREDIMED-Plus

Dres. Cyril Kendall and John Sievenpiper of the University of Toronto visited the PREDIMED-Plus center of Reus to learn about the difficulties of a large PREDIMED-Plus study. The main objective of the this large trial is to evaluate the effect of an intensive weight loss intervention based on an energy-restricted traditional Mediterranean diet, physical activity promotion and behavioral support on cardiovascular disease (CVD), as compared to a usual. In this visit, the researchers have been observed the field work and they have been interested in the PREDIMED-Plus interventions, the tools used, the logistics and the cost in terms of necessary personnel, facilities and other key aspects of the project.
